Pocketing the scrolls, you head off…
following the line of the letters above you.
After walking for what feels like hours, you can’t help but start to loose hope. Before it sinks in however you spot a small speck off in the distance. As you approach you see it isn’t shaped like a person, rather a cube. Perhaps it’s a fallen letter from the sky, maybe the side of an E? But as you come up to it you start to hear noise, voices? music? You notice windows, and then a door, and it dawns on you that this is not a letter, but a building.
You wrap your hand around the doorknob, and hesitate to open it, but after hearing a loud boom of laughter, you feel encouraged, and enter into the unknown.
First, you are hit by the noise. There are about 50 people in this large room, sitting (or hovering) by large tables, similar to a diner. Most people face one end of the room where you see a raised platform, holding a 5 person band. You walk around the back of the room, surveying the scene.
The patrons are having a very merry time, some are singing to the songs, like it’s karaoke, and others are just chatting away. You walk past a couple old arcade machines that are being largely ignored, other than one pinball machine, which is not only in use, but has a line forming behind it.
You watch as the person at the front turns the knob and receives a colorful assortment of candy in their hand. They then announce “red” and turn the knob again, but now, as if by magic, the only candies released into their hands are the color red. The next time the knob is turned, the dispensed candies are multi-colored once more. Before you can watch the next person shuffle forward something blocks your vision.
“Hi, can I get you anything?”
