A waitress is smiling at you with a notepad ready.

“Is there anything you would like?”

“Oh um no, thank you…”

She nods and starts to walk away, but then you change your mind.

“Actually, yes… do you know what this is?” in your phrasing you’re unsure if you are referring to this room or the entire place, and she also seems to not understand. You elaborate, “Is this an event?”

"Well of course, it’s Singing Saturday. Everyone gathers here, catches up, picks songs for the band. It’s… always Singing Saturday.”

She gives you a look that is hard to interpret. “Have…have you never been here before?”You shake your head and she considers you for a moment longer. “Let’s go some place quieter” Maybe it’s because of your lack of options, but you trust her, and follow her away from that main room to a produce storage room in the back.

She turns to face you. “No-one here is new. But a couple weeks ago a man came in saying that he hadn’t been in before either. He said he was wandering around in the void for a long time and didn’t know where he was… something about clicking a button on a portfolio”

You cut in with enthusiasm. “Yes! That happened to me! And then I found some scrolls. Are they his?”

She sighs with pity in her eyes. “I’m not sure, I don’t know what’s happened to you both. I’m sorry, I wish I could help more but I- what I do know is that he told me if anyone comes looking for “a way out” that I should send them over to you…”

She then wordlessly turns and disappears behind a tall produce shelf.
